Most likely lost in her own pretend world, more often than not, Ai typically can be found zoning out while doodling or scratching down various, though typically nonsensical, things that seem to be ripped straight from a fairy tale. Though, she seems to refuse to accept the fact that her daydreams are anything less than real. Her agitation is likely at simply just being told that could debunk her magical realm, a bit of a childlike aura surrounding her in the way she acts about the reality of the world.
[break][break]
As a result of subjecting the world to her own fantasies, she's also rarely found actually interacting with others short of her imaginary friends. If asked to describe or introduce them, she typically becomes incredibly bashful about the whole thing as if gaining some sudden awareness about her false world and tries to either change the subject or excusing herself entirely. Those who typically try to play along with her fantastic visions tend to get along quite nicely with a surprisingly sweet girl, but walk on thin ice between breaking the illusion and maintaining her views on the world around her.

Growing up in a strict household is never easy, and the case was the same for the young Ai who wanted nothing to do with the conventional life of society. School and work were things foreign to the girl, much to her parent's disdain, typically shirking these in favor of enjoyable activities involving creativity and freedom of the mind. These freedoms led to true expression of her wonderful mind, journals and sketchbooks upon journals and sketchbooks of curious beings and descriptions of things that didn't quite seem to exist outside of her own imagination.
[break][break]
Not that this all bode well with her parents, utter disappoint in their daughter who seemed to only block them out and go about her fantasizing and slacking at any sign of stress or anxiety when it came to dealing with reality. It got to the point where they'd even sent her in for numerous checkups, wondering if their daughter had some sort of mental illness. Yet, it came back quite the opposite. She was a genius, in some sense of the word, high IQ and all of it being spent on crafting a coherent make-believe realm in her own mind. Mostly diluted by a short-attention span piled onto it, she seemed to show great promise in most regards when she applied the effort necessary. That was the problem of course, getting her to take interest in something outside of fiction.
[break][break]
That was until she found Duel Monsters. A nifty card game that seemed to have limitless combinations and unique creatures that fueled her imagination and creative world-building process. It didn't take long for her to take liking to a certain set of Toon Monsters neither, absolutely adoring their wacky designs and unique concept to the rest of the dueling world. It seemed to be a deck as curious and as her, one founded on a world with the potential for powerful things. With her prowess for dueling and her dislike of your average classroom, the announcement of Neo Duel Academy sounded like just the breath of fresh air someone of her character could use. With newfound determination she quickly rose to a high ranking within her region, discretely applying for the academy behind her parent's backs in fear of disapproval.
[break][break]
Without much thought she later ended up ditching home, a suitcase of cards, cash, and a few select stuffed animals she fancied, setting out for the academy with only so much as a goodbye note to her family.
