INFORMATION
Last Updates 5/12/2016
This section is for general plot and other information you might need. If there's anything not covered in here or if you have any questions please message Guy Jean.
The school is set on an island similar to the duel academy from Yu-Gi-Oh GX, it's a relatively large island that looks like a place suitable for a five-star resort. The island has many areas outside of the school's buildings ranging from the beach to the mountains. As the school becomes more popular more areas will be built or opened up for students.
Entrance exams have two parts, a written exam and dueling exam. Consider getting your character approved passing the written exam portion. The dueling exam takes place after students have passed the written exams, and entrance exams happen in blocks during the school year to attract more students mid-school year. In the dueling exams you will play a match (best two out of three) with another student character or with a teacher character in special cases. Your character performance in the duel will help decide if they get into the school, and if they do get in what ranking they will receive.
Throughout the year (in character time) there will be several events such as tests, tournaments, etc. Tests are the main way for your student to raise their personal grade while tournaments and events are for the sake of unranked competition between students.
Upon being accepted into the academy, each student is given a ranking that is publicly visible on the school's website. The rankings are as follows: F, E, D, C, B, A, S. Students may raise ranking during important tests in the school year, rankings give students no benefits outside of bragging and public adoration for the skilled and talented duelists. Regardless of ranking, characters may advance through their four year stay as long as they do well on their final exams.
Dueling work just like the standard 8000 LP duels. In character duels are played either on dueling fields or using duel disks. Dueling fields have a small set of stairs leading up to where each duelist should stand, infront of each duelist is a playing field where all their cards will be played. Their main and extra decks will also be placed up here. Dueling fields must first be turned on by those who have the ability to, this will allow the holograms to appear when cards are played. The fields can either be fully activated at the start or be activated after it is decided after a coin flip. If it is the latter, usually a teacher or duelist will have to do a coinflip which will then fully activate after the coin lands. Full holograms of every card will now appear on the field, monster appearing ontop of their cards, all card effects being fully visualized so you have a lot of detail to work with. Field cards will also envelop the block where the station is situated and project all the fun details of the field to the duelist's inside and the spectators outside. Duel disks are styled after 5D's standard duel disks but can vary from character from character. Duel disks project much smaller scale holograms of all the cards since it does not have as much power as the dueling fields.
How exactly do you make a Yu-Gi-Oh roleplay work? Originally the plan was to have the roleplays and duels to be going on at the exact same time but we've found a way that's easier for everybody. Transcripts. This still takes some time but It's definitely easier than trying to finish the roleplay duel and the actual duel at the same time. So how exactly should you do your transcript? While transcribing your duel everything that you would need to put into a reply should be there. Your transcript should have a turn count and write down in detail every move of a turn. An example transcript would look something like this.
and so on. Having a transcript makes it so you and your partner can roleplay at a good pace without posts being rushed out in real time. These transcripts are for your and your partner to see only. This is so other members of the site can read your duels without knowing the results previously. Make sure before the duel starts one of you is taking the time to write down every move each other make, try to go slow so they can get every necessary detail.
