Although he seems decidedly aloof at a glance, it wouldn't take much more than exchanging a few words to find out that he's a lot goofier than most adults. One could almost mistake him for no older than a teen himself, between his seeming eternal youth and carefree attitude, despite there being evidence implying his age is much older than let on.
[break][break]
One mustn't also misinterpretation this friendly attitude as genuine feelings towards others, nor should they believe his calm aura is totally invincible. Haruka's persona can turn on a dime, and leave the same people lulled into a false sense of security around him in a total state of inner turmoil; not one to hesitate on on expressing his own agitation verbally, loud and often. He's a total ambiguous enigma, from his minor obsession with the moon to his age and, sometimes, gender.
[break][break]
Though the only thing he seems to love more than the moon at times, is himself. A total narcissist, it's a wonder that he's ever found love in anything but his reflection or the night sky to begin with.

HISTORY
HISTORY
[attr="class","po3"]
Born to a small household in Osaka, Japan under the starry night sky as a preterm birth, Haruka was something of a miracle. With no medical doctors on staff to oversee the procedure, and despite being born four weeks early, he was totally healthy in every sense o the word. A blessing and absolute wonder among his family, they spoiled him with culture and affection. Yet, things seemed strange. Any emotion he expressed seemed to be intensified tenfold, anger and excitement seemingly difficult to inhibit. It was perplexing, only later discovering in life when he was taken into the hospital for a head injury that there'd been unseen complication at birth, if not minor.
[break][break]
Haruka had been born with an underdeveloped frontal lobe, meaning his ability to withhold and display appropriate emotion in ways that were socially acceptable would be an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish. He seemed unable to perceive other's points of views and act accordingly to the situation. To boot it seemed difficult for him to catch interest in most things, another minor complication. Only three things in the wide variety of hobbies he'd been exposed to seemed to hold his interest; dueling, painting, and, strangely, the moon. The first thing he'd seen at birth, and his utter fascination. He would paint piece after piece depicting the moon in some way, if his time wasn't occupied with duels or remedial schoolwork. Even today these are the only things he can find true solace in, as strange of a man he seems to be.
[break][break]
That was, until he found her. Her pale, flawless skin comparable to that of the full moon and dark blue eyes like the starry sky. He fell in love, and she returned it, absolutely breath-taken by the paintings he created of her. They wed in a mere month after their first date, each of them at the mere age of eighteen. She brought him to new, inexperienced, emotion, and he worshiped the very ground she walked on. Yet, like the night itself, it came to an end. He was devastated, his addiction taken from him by a drunk driver while she was walking home from just a block away. The news traveled as fast as one could imagine, and he was absolutely devastated. Haruka went to her in her final moments, watching her grace fade under the orange sky of the sunrise. He turned to drinking, indulging himself in alcohol to suppress his otherwise untamed emotion.
[break][break]
Things didn't get better until he met his second wife. While her charm was flawed and her beauty was limited, it was her personality that truly shone through to him. A new moon in the pitch black sky, illuminating the stars around and pulling him from the depths of despair. Things went slower this time, but in a matter of seven months they were engaged. The broken man's cracks glued back together by her warmth. Haruka still lingers over memories of her first love, of course. The pain never truly fades. His deck is the Lunalight Archetype, in memory of the grace and unspoiled perfection of his first wife, but the passion behind his duels is ignited by the support and the true emotion invoked by his current.
[break][break]
No one's particularly sure how he got his job teaching at the Academy, or why he's allowed to keep it after numerous emotional outbursts. He seems to have certain ties with Guy, and a vow to never duel him again.
